We are on the ground and rolling this program out in Nepal. Kris, our volunteer who was trained at Global Giving headquarters arrived a few days ago and is busy contacting interested NGO's and planning for training sessions and introductory seminars. She's assisted by Manisha, a Nepali woman who has been hired by The Mountain Fund to help Nepali NGO's with translation (she has nearly perfect English) and general navigation of Global Giving project pages. Jenee, another Nepali woman is being trained to lead presentations for groups. Soon we'll have two more Global Giving volunteers on the ground in Kathmandu and this entire group will start training, talking about and introducing what Global Giving is and how it works. The two volunteers who are arriving in June will also be conducting some quality control checks on existing Global Giving partners in Nepal, a great way to assure donors that the projects they support are on track.
We have a high level of interest from NGO's especially since we've hired staff who can translate project materials into English for them, as that's been a major obstacle in the past. Manisha joins the staff in Nepal full-time very soon but is already hard at it on a part-time basis.
Having this valuable tool (Global Giving) is a game-changer, if you love Global Giving, you just have to love this effort in Nepal to expand its reach.
Project Reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
