We are partnering with One Sight to remove barriers for education of more than 1,000 inner city children through the provision of free eye exams and glasses.
Inner city students in Richmond, Virginia face many challenges in achieving an education. One of those barriers shouldn't be that they couldn't see the chalkboard or couldn't see to read a book. All of the children we serve are on the federal free and reduced lunch program and most are reliant on Medicaid. We are working in conjunction with several community partners to help raise awareness on the importance of good vision to the overall positive educational experience of a child.
This program enables us to serve more than 1,000 children each year by providing them with thorough screenings and exams along with eyeglasses that fit their individual styles and needs.
This service provides more than 1,000 inner city children with a valuable tool in achieving great academic success. Children, Incorporated partners closely with the schools to ensure proper follow up and support is given all year long.
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
