ALEJO Community Support Project intends to start provision of agriculture inputs to small scale farmers and scaling up of agriculture trainings for small scale farmers. This project will be targeted at rural areas where the poor have no access to quality agriculture trainings and agriculture inputs.
ALEJO Community Support Project identified gaps that exist in the implementation of agriculture activities in relation to issues that promote sustainable poverty alleviation. We are of a view that many small scale farmers in Mufulira could be provided with information about the importance of agriculture in the fight against poverty.
In this project, we plan to conduct mobile agriculture trainings in the rural areas on crop farming, fish farming, livestock and entrepreneurship. Agriculture production activities using organic fertilizers among small scale farmers will be encouraged so that more innovations are promoted in the quest to attract other small scale farmers.
This project of mobile agriculture trainings will define the role of a small scale farmer in national development and be able to appreciate that a farmer is very active player in every sector of the country. The project will help the small scale farmers to use new agriculture production techniques in their daily activities, thereby promoting sustainable agriculture management.
