The Komera Scholars need English-Kinyarwanda dictionaries to help them learn English! We also want to provide them with a special holiday gift of new shoes and clothes. We need your help raising $3825 or $51 per scholar to make it happen! Lets do it!
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The Komera Scholars are desperately trying to learn English. They grew up in an education system that focused on French and Kinyarwanda yet in 2009 switched over to English. They are struggling to catch up and have asked for English Dictionaries to study and assist them in their school work. Additionally these young women need new shoes and intimates! They come from incredibly poor families and they simply can't afford these luxuries.
How will this project solve this problem?
Just simply having their own dictionary will help them immensely. They will be able to practice English and refer to it when they are struggling with their homework. Every girl deserves new shoes and clothes! This is a luxury that many of the Komera Scholars have never experienced. We want to provide them with something special for the holidays and for their new school year. It will simply be an all around confidence boost!
Potential Long Term Impact
We hope that with improved English Language skills, these young women will be able to go forward onto post secondary education and transition into the job market effectively breaking the cycle of poverty.
