After our last report, we did not relent our efforts in the intensification of ensuring quality education as a special gift to orphaned children under our care and training. We were able to conduct the end of year assessment in all classes including the soft ware and Hard ware training sections. The final year students wrote their G.C.E.examinations and the result have just been release with a very good % passed. We participated in the National day march pass and OVCs were very satisfied as they participated along side with other schools. Here under, is a group picture which was taken after the march pass. At the end of the end of year examinations, there was another special examination which which was set by the NSo Language Organization and the OVcs did excellently well. The parcels shown were given by the Ministry of Basic education in Yaounde through the Nso Language Organization. The picture shows the students during the end of year prize award. We gave prized to students in all disciplines. We are glad to report that the support to Give a Gift of Education was able to provide basic educational needs and even went as far as helping some who had ill health problems. More children have been identified and admission is currently going one. The Number of OVcs is expected to to be increased because we were able to complete new class rooms and looking forward to providing more Benches. Giving a gift of Education to a child is a permanent gift. We are now working on building another section of the school which will enable us to have a good Computer lab for these children. Part of this building will be housing our volunteers who come out from Original volunteers and International Bond and teach the children. We have the honour to thank all those who have been supporting the project through out the year. Another academic year is soon coming and we will set the ball rolling on buying of Uniforms, school books, shoes, and other educational needs for the must vulnerable ones already identified and admitted so far. May God continue to bless you as you support these children so that they can have hope and equally become responsible in future. We thank the Globalgiving team for the wonderful job they are doing just to see that all the donations are transferred for this purpose. We will continue to do our best in providing quality education to these children.
Another time has come for us to report on this project. We really lack words to express our sincere thanks to all the donors and those who continued to stay by us in this project during since our last report.
All the children who have been considered as beneficiaries to this project have finally received a one year study period and are currently writing their promotion examination.
We are glad to report here that our volunteers especially from the original volunteers in UK are doing a wonderful job. The have done much in the teaching of English, Mathematics and other interactive classes.
Since we have got enough space by completing the first phase of the school construction project, we now intend to keep on with the training and also open up more room for more of such children to gain knowledge and become responsible in future.
The project remain unique in that we have fought the stigmatization of orphaned children to a very high level and have equally restored hope on them through this project.
We pray that those who supported these children in the past should not forget that it is an on going project and children have to continue to receive their education for at least four to six years.
The attached pictures shows the commitment of the volunteers in the teaching of English lessons.
We hope to keep on while giving a lot of thanks to the GlobalGiving teams of the UK and US.
Accept our sincere thanks for helping these class of children to gain education as a permanent gift.
May God continue to bless you all as we get on with the project together.
Give a Gift of Education and sponsor and orphaned child in Cameroon is a project is restoring hope, smiles and humanitarian project which is aimed at helping the less privileged children who must have completed Primary school ages between 12 to 18 years. Most of these children are either Orphaned who have lost either one or both of their parents to HIV/AIDS, Accidents or are vulnerable because of their parents are victims of HIV/AIDS or suffering from situations which can not permit them bring them up. I am glad to report that all donations being received are helping them in many ways. Providing their essential educational needs, supporting teachers with teaching materials, etc. We are happy to report that in the new school which we have been able to complete the first phase, they are now studying in a very very conducive environment and in their permanent site. This moth, we received Miss Hanna our volunteer from the Uk who taught them last year. she is very happy teaching in a clean and conducive environment and seeing them happy and studying well with the support of the donors. We are looking forward to stepping up the number of OVC next year if we continue to have support. We wish to please that sponsoring a child for one academic year is a life gift, or supporting with what ever no matter how small it is, is a good investment. Knowledge is power and it once acquired in remains for life. We continue training them, as more support continue to come in and also ensuring that they become responsible children in future. As you can see in the attached picture, Madam Andrea came in from Germany to cement a partnership with this project for the supply of Long term Volunteers to stay and teach these children. It if a lofty project and we thank all those who have been and are still to be supporting this children. We promise to that together with our volunteers the project will go a long way to helping the children. We pray that God should continue blessing the those who have supported this and also direct those who are interested to supporting orphaned children to gain education to our favour. Respectuflly submitted by, Wirkom Fred, Project Leader
This project observed a great experience as all the children since September received a host of volunteers from UK. We intensified our partnership with the Original volunteers in UK who sent in volunteers who came to work with the children in the Youth Centre. Much about their work is found in Serep News letter which are distributed to all our donors and supporters of this project. Jodie mills, Laura, and Paul all from UK and through Original volunteers who are our partners came in to assist in teaching, and also to build the capacity of teachers. It was a great opportunity to have these volunteer who are still in Cameroon at the moment. Most of the children especially those ones that were identified and admitted into year one are happy receiving education with most of their essential requirements being made available through the Global giving disbursement. Through the Global giving support, well qualified teachers have been employed and Jodie who is a professional teacher gave a lot of assistance in guiding the teachers on proper teaching. Laura enjoyed playing hand ball and football including physical education as you can see in the pictures attached. We have also been working very had in their news school which we are looking forward to completing the new phase and to start using it proper in January. Thanks to those who have been supporting this project. Orphaned and vulnerable children continue to be on the rise in this part of the country. We are proud to report that the wonderful results being recorded by the final year students, more normal students are also knocking at our doors. This will help to wipe out the stigmatization as they were always stigmatized since the school was meant for them and most of the children were from desperate poor background, orphaned and equally vulnerable. More pictures can be requested because the report has a provision only for few pictures. Good Enough one of the volunteers Shey Maurice supported the school with computers and the orphaned now have a very good computer laboratory. Thank for this volunteer who is still working with this children and in the construction of the school project. We need your continues support and prayers for more volunteers to continue coming out to give a smile and join us in restoring hope on these children. Of you were to give presence to people during this Christmas season, please remember the education of the orphaned in this part of the world.
It is my pleasure to report that this project has been the most active one within this period. We received volunteers from the UK who came in to work in this project. They taught English, Mathematics and Business Mathematics within the months of July and August.
We selected all the Orphaned and vulnerable children who had learning difficulties and also invited others from other institutions around Kumbo and brought together for holiday classes.
During the holiday classes, they and the volunteers participated in the construction project which is aimed at improving their learning environment in terms of infrastructures.
One of the volunteers Mr. Caluum Vimpany was practically involved in the identification of the orphaned who have just completed primary school. We are working on the list at the moment preparing to admit them for this academic year. The work that he did has again created some awareness and interest among our communities to identify and direct more of such cases to us. As such we hope to increase the number this year.
This time volunteers through original volunteers have indicated to teach in this institution come September and the quality of training is also going to be improved.
The below pictures shores Mr. David correcting a test and a cross section of some of the volunteers and a group pictures with one of the classes.
Final Year Class. Eight of them sat for the G.C.E. and Seven of them passed. I am glad that support given to these children has gone a long way to restore hope in them, and hence achieving our goal.
We thank those who have been supporting this project and assuring those who are yet to do so to rest assured that their hard earned money is being used accordingly on these children. This is a lovely project to support.
