Give emergency health care and relief to Pakistan

Summary

International Medical Corps’ emergency response teams are traveling to displacement camps providing health care and emergency relief items to tens of thousands of people in Swabi and Mardan districts.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Violence is forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes in Pakistan’s Swat valley. Having to flee their homes, families are leaving with only what they can carry. The displaced are arriving in camps with no essential items, such as mosquito nets, blankets, and cooking utensils. Even more critical is the lack of basic services, such as health care, clean water, and sanitation. For pregnant women, the lack of medical care and delivery services is particularly dangerous.

How will this project solve this problem?

International Medical Corps is providing 24-hour health care in Swabi’s Yar Hussein Mera Camp and other critical services, such as water & sanitation. We have also distributed emergency health & hygiene kits to families who have been forced to flee.

Potential Long Term Impact

Continue to provide health care and basic sanitation needs.
