Map of MALARIA IN MATHARE Malaria is one of the diseases that is very common and killing people in our community despite the fight against it by the government, churches and other non-governmental organisations. Due to the kind of life that people lead within the slums, it is so difficult to prevent the disease because the preventative measures can not be applied. Consider a makeshift sheltering holding 8-10 people. It is obvious that people can not live comfortably within the item. People are normally expected to use mosquito nets but in the slums, it was almost impossible. this is because children sleep on the floor while some sleep on the seats. It is difficult to have a mosquito net covered the chair or down on the floor. Another reason is stagnant water. This has lead to breeding site for mosquitoes. Read more.
