Last year you helped us reach our first goal, opening a children's home for some of the 6000 street children in Nepal. Living on the streets of Nepal these children have no food, shelter, education or healthcare and are often driven to drugs and crime. Our first home is going from strength to strength with 13 boys in full time education and even getting tuition for IT and music. But, we need to do more, help more children and expand our services to include essential healthcare and activities.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The boys in the Our Sansar's children's home have come from a life on the streets. While on the streets they have been unable to attend school, let alone feed themselves everyday. A lack of education locks these children in a cycle of poverty - leading them to only know a life begging on the streets. The children's home has been a fantastic success but we want to be able to give more for these boys, and the many more street children in Nepal. Let's give them a real chance at a future!
How will this project solve this problem?
The boys, like Kamal, have lived their whole lives in poverty. Your donation will provide healthcare (the first in their lives!) and a bit of fun as they absolutely love cricket. We'll support the boys in the home and make sure they are healthy and happy, but also to expand the help we currently give - offering healthcare to the many more street children. As our children's home 'Mother' says; 'through education and health we can make a real difference for street children's future, today'.
Potential Long Term Impact
Providing the secure foundations for these children - enabling them to attend school free of the pressures of poverty and poor health will help break the cycle of these families and escape poverty for the future. The boys in our children's home all have dreams of becoming Doctors, Policemen and even Pilots - we want to ensure they have the best opportunity to reach their full potential while supported with the security of shelter, healthy diets and access to hygiene facilities.
