Fuel Relief Fund will help fulfill its mission by donating free Fuel and Fuel Cards to those that need it the most. Fuel is not limited to transportation use, but can be applied to run generators, medical equipment, lights and even water systems. Fuel in the form of gasoline, diesel, and heating oil are highly sought after resources immediately after a disaster and are the next best thing to food, water, and shelter.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Disasters usually hit without warning and many times leave victims unprepared. Fuel Relief Fund is immediately at work after the devastation. Our challenge today is to have sufficient funds in reserve to purchase fuel for victims immediately after a disaster. No matter whether it is a devastating hurricane, flood, earthquake or fire that strikes next, victims WILL need fuel for transportation, to run generators for lights and refrigeration, or fuel in the form of heating oil to survive.
How will this project solve this problem?
This project will allow donors to help Fuel Relief Fund to provide the necessary resources to purchase fuel and fuel cards. Instead of starting a fundraising campaign as soon as the next disaster hits, it will allow our non-profit to respond immediately and provide fuel to victims without delay. We also want to bring awareness to the role that fuel plays after disasters and our organization therefore sends out quarterly newsletters and brochures that will help spread our mission.
Potential Long Term Impact
The resources to purchase fuel and to deliver this commodity are scarce after a disaster has hit. Fuel Relief Fund's mission is to build a fund that's ready to disperse with no delay. The challenge requires $4,000 in donations, but we are aiming for $10,000, which would truly allow us to purchase "2500 gallons of fuel to refuel lives".
