Give 200 South African children good health

Dear friends,

When we last updated you on our progress, VVOCF had decided to move from feeding children and youth three days a week to five days a week. Yet given the $7,000 loss in support from the Global Fund for Children, VVOCF has simply maintained its commitment to a three day per week program schedule. But we need your support to keep this going.

Having supported our work in the past and having displayed a passion for seeing children thrive, we’re asking you to make a special gift to our project. Without your support, VVOCF will have to cut its feeding program, maybe even going down to one or two days per week. Not only is this bad for the children and youth who rely on this service, but it may discourage them from coming to the center altogether. Yet with your help, we can stay the course, keep the doors open three to five days a week and give our children good health.

Please make a gift to our project today. Your support makes a difference.

With gratitude and humility,
Paul

Dear friends,

So much has happened since we last connected. To start, your support continues to help our partners at VVOCF provide three meals to children each week. Yet with the demands for increased support and services from the center, we recently worked with Nomusa and the team on the ground at VVOCF to start providing five meals each week—that’s one meal every weekday for each of the 40–60 kids who come to the center.

While this is undoubtedly good news, what’s sad is that VVOCF recently learned it must take a year of from receiving support from the Global Fund for Children. That’s a loss of $7,000—a vital source in helping VVOCF reach its new goals. Without this support, VVOCF will struggle to keep its doors open three days a week, let alone five.

Given your commitment to this issue and your passion for seeing children thrive, we’re asking you to make a special gift to our project. Without your support, VVOCF will have to cut its feeding program, maybe even going down to one or two days per week. Not only is this bad for the children and youth who rely on this service, but it may discourage them from coming to the center altogether. Yet with your help, we can stay the course, keep the doors open five days a week and give our children good health.

Please make a gift to our project today. Your support makes a difference.

With gratitude and humility,
Paul

When we first started this project, we mentioned how similar South Africa is to the United States. Go into any grocery store in the country, and you’ll find an abundance of food. Still, many people wake up and go to bed hungry each day.

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, your support helps us provide a hot meal to the orphans, vulnerable children and youth at Vumundzuku-bya Vana/Our Children’s Future (VVOCF). Not only do your gifts provide nutrition for those who might otherwise not have access, but they also help us maintain VVOCF as a place of love where the children and youth we serve can come together to learn, to grow and to thrive.

We thank you for your support, and we look forward to keeping you posted on all our progress in the coming months.

Last time we wrote, we were thanking you for your gifts, and we couldn't help but thank you again. Your support keeps the children we serve healthy and happy. Your donations directly provide food to help them grow and thrive, and your support helps them connect with a caring adult every time they visit the center.

With that in mind, we wanted to share a symbol of how we are trying to make Vumundzuku-bya Vana/Our Children's Future (VVOCF) "indawo yothando," a place of love. To help us on this journey, consider making pledging a monthly gift so that we can continue to meet the needs of the orphans, vulnerable children and youth we serve.

Thanks again for all you do. We look forward to keeping you posted on our progress in the coming months.

Thank you!
Thank you!

On behalf of all the children at Vumundzuku-bya Vana/Our Children's Future (VVOCF), our South African partner, we'd like to say thank you, or ngiyabonga, for your gifts. Each day, your support nurtures the orphans and vulnerable children VVOCF serves, helping them grow stronger and connecting them with caring adults.

As the first group who made gifts to this project, we wanted to tell you about our plans for 2014. As the year continues, GYEC is helping VVOCF by launching the #givegoodhealth campaign. Through this campaign, we hope to raise $60,000 by December 31, 2014 in support for VVOCF and its programs. Critical to our success is being able to raise $5,000 each month to sustain VVOCF's current programs.

If you've ever thought about making a monthly gift, now's the time to really consider it. Not only will you be making a difference in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children for less than the cost of a few runs to your local coffee shop, you'll get to feel the warm glow of giving every month. You'll also be part of a "small group of thoughtful, committed citizens" that are changing the world. Click hear to #givegoodhealth
