Last time we wrote, we were thanking you for your gifts, and we couldn't help but thank you again. Your support keeps the children we serve healthy and happy. Your donations directly provide food to help them grow and thrive, and your support helps them connect with a caring adult every time they visit the center.
With that in mind, we wanted to share a symbol of how we are trying to make Vumundzuku-bya Vana/Our Children's Future (VVOCF) "indawo yothando," a place of love. To help us on this journey, consider making pledging a monthly gift so that we can continue to meet the needs of the orphans, vulnerable children and youth we serve.
Thanks again for all you do. We look forward to keeping you posted on our progress in the coming months.
On behalf of all the children at Vumundzuku-bya Vana/Our Children's Future (VVOCF), our South African partner, we'd like to say thank you, or ngiyabonga, for your gifts. Each day, your support nurtures the orphans and vulnerable children VVOCF serves, helping them grow stronger and connecting them with caring adults.
As the first group who made gifts to this project, we wanted to tell you about our plans for 2014. As the year continues, GYEC is helping VVOCF by launching the #givegoodhealth campaign. Through this campaign, we hope to raise $60,000 by December 31, 2014 in support for VVOCF and its programs. Critical to our success is being able to raise $5,000 each month to sustain VVOCF's current programs.
If you've ever thought about making a monthly gift, now's the time to really consider it. Not only will you be making a difference in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children for less than the cost of a few runs to your local coffee shop, you'll get to feel the warm glow of giving every month. You'll also be part of a "small group of thoughtful, committed citizens" that are changing the world. Click hear to #givegoodhealth.
We’re just starting to promote this project, so there isn’t much to report. But we didn’t want to leave you without a few things to think about:
We believe in the well-being of the children we serve. Your gifts help provide food that nourishes them, bringing them from the brink of hunger and malnutrition to a state in which they can grow and thrive. Thank you for believing in us and giving these children a chance at life.
Just as life cannot happen without growth and action, it is limited without relationships and interaction. Think of us each time you take a step. Think about the power of your gift. As you walk down the street, run on the treadmill or laugh with those you love, think about how your gift has helped the children we serve do just the same.
We posted this project to close out the year in a strong position. Already, support from people like you is helping us relocate our center to new land. While it's important that we move, it's also important that we don't stop our work in the process.
Recently, one of the HIV positive children we serve has been put on second-line treatment. That means the first-line, or regimen, of pills that he was prescribed didn't work. One of the reasons it didn't work is because the child went hungry. He didn't get enough food and nutrition to process the medications, and he's at greater risk of becoming ill because of that.
We should be clear: there is no third-line of drugs. This is the child's last chance. And you can help save his life by making a gift today. Your gift will, in part, make sure he has the winning combination of food, love and medicine to overcome this obstacle.
Make a gift. Save a life. And inspire your friends to do the same.
