Anita Ayers Henderlight - Executive Director
Anita joined the NESEI team in January 2008. She educates the public about the potential of Sudan's young people and mobilizes individuals and groups to invest time and resources in NESEI projects. A graduate of Patricia Stevens College in Missouri, Anita's inspiration to work on global humanitarian issues stems from her relationships with Lost Boys & the children and women she has met in Sudan.
Atem Deng - Co-Founder & Outreach Director
Atem arrived in Vermont in 2001 along with many other Lost Boys of Sudan. In May of 2005, he traveled to work in refugee camps in Northern Uganda. It was on this trip that he was reunited with most of his family for the first time in 15 years. Through this experience and seeing the devastation Sudan’s civil war has brought to his family and country, Atem became ever more determined to help NESEI.
Diane Birungi - Sudan Program Director
Diane coordinates NESEI’s programs in Wau and Yei, South Sudan. She received an undergraduate degree from Uganda's prestigious Makerere University. She has extensive experience working with Sudan's education systems. Diane helps NESEI form strategic partnerships with NGOs and individuals working in the education and health fields.
