Gives 50 girls and mothers from tough neighborhoods in Sacramento the opportunity to spend quality time with “Yo”, exposing them to options and opportunities designed to be help them succeed.
For too many girls in Sacramento Ca. the examples in their life are not healthy. Unhealthy relationships, crime filled neighborhoods and too many predators. Far too many of their mothers who love and care for them were not equipped with the answers. Yolanda Griffith understands their situation, having grown up on the tough side of Chicago and herself a former teen-mom. A good role model can mean the difference between success and failure. “My own story makes it easy for me to relate.”
Weekly meetings: Girl talk, nature walks, bike rides and sports camps. Regular moms nutrition classes and self esteem building activities eg., cooking, bowling and field trips for mothers, designed to show what’s available to them out there.
Providing an opportunity to young girls and their mothers that they may not have had otherwise. Our program will allow them to grow and move beyond their current circumstances and see what potential the future holds.
