Progress of the project
During IV Congress of Women which took place in Warsaw (September 14-15th 2012) we had possibility for meeting and exchanging experience between all persons involved in the idea of promoting women’s rights globally. The Congress of Women - a social movement drawing attention to the problems of women – focused this time on activeness, entrepreneurship and independence and this gave us the opportunity for sharing experiences and allowed us to present campaign “Girls As Engineers” to the recipients as the best example of good practices.
Their support for our project stated Krystyna Szumilas Minister of National Education, Senator of the Republic of Poland Andzelika Mozdzanowska, Henryka Bochniarz – President of the Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan.
In September 2012 we took part in 18th Poland International Education Fair Perspektywy - a series of education fairs for upper secondary school students and graduates. In 17 academic cities in Poland representatives of higher education institutions and admission officers were there to advise young people and answer their questions on recruitment opportunities. We had chance to talk to young women as well as their parents and their teachers in order to see whether they know prospects of the technical education for girls and also understand the meaning of the participation in Open Day for Girls Only for their children and pupils. The next Open Day for Girls Only at the polytechnic we prepare nationwide is held on 25th of April 2013.
Impact of the project
According to the data of Polish Institute of Official Statistics there was almost 5000 more female students in the year 2011/12 than in 2010/2011 at the technical universities and at the same time number of male students had not changed in general.
