The aim of the campaign is to introduce engineering studies to female high school students. At 25th April 2013 20 Polish technical universities will organize National Open Doors Day - "For Girls Only"
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Historically womens status in engineering in Poland have been treated of a lesser importance and value than those of men. Although the proportion of female students exceeds that of male students, they equal men in all fields of study except for STEM group. The gender gap is persistent. Promoting technical and scientific education will encourage more women to careers in those fields which will be beneficiary for whole society..
How will this project solve this problem?
Project which is providing reliable, relevant information about proportion of women in science and engineering and about its institutional, cultural and social factors to the general public will help to increase women's participation in those fields.
Potential Long Term Impact
Problem of underrepresentation of women in certain scientific fields both in education and at work in decision-making positions will be solved. It will affect whole society bringing equality and wider representation of women in the public sphere.
