September is proving to be an exciting month for all areas of the Kasiisi Girls' Support Program!
- A few days ago the FIRST EVER delivery of MakaPads arrived to the Kasiisi schools in place of the imported pads (I'll attach a photo as soon as I have one).
-In about a week, a few Kasiisi Project students will attend another training session for peer leaders provided through the Jane Goodall Institute. After this workshop is complete, there will be trained peer leaders and female staff at all 5 of the affiliated primary schools!
Last month, while I was in Uganda, I had the privilege of watching Nurse Lucy present a lesson she called "Breaking the Silence" to P5-P7 girls. Her approach was very interactive and she encouraged the girls to ask questions and speak up as she spoke of the importance of breaking the silence about menstruation and growing from "childhood to adulthood". I have a short video clip of Lucy in action and will put it online soon for all to see! I have included a photo of girls volunteering to hold up a poster we bought from Mango Tree (see link below) while Lucy spoke.
Thanks so much for your continued support! None of this is possible without each of your donations.
