Thank you!

Dear Friends of FFLV -

We want to thank you for your generosity in supporting the New Year's Gift Program last and give you a final update on the project, which will begin again as New Year 2014 approaches, but will no longer be conducted via Global Giving.

For the first time this year, due to extreme cold in Vrindvan and the government's deciding that all schools should be closed until it warmed up, this year's gift distribution was delayted the 18th of January.  We distributed giftpacks through the  21st of January, 2013.  The generosity of donors like you enabled us to raise $15,256 for the festival, which allowed us to distribute  gift packs to our students as well as children in the public schools of Vrindavan and a number of surrounding villages.  Each gift pack contained a jar of vaseline, a woolen cap, candies, peanuts, some small toys, a toothbrush and tooth paste, as well as some pictures.   As you can see from the thank you card below, you helped make a lot of children really happy.

As you know, we run the new year's gifts campaign each year to provide some small gifts to brighten the lives of the poor children in Vrindavan and help them welcome the new year in a positive way.  Because of the tremendous visiblity Global Giving has given our project "Prevent Child Marriage, Educate 150 Girls in India" (#8803), we hoped to do the same for our new year's gift projegram here.  But because the distirubtion takes place only once a year, we can't really provide the regular updates required to maintain a project listing on this platform and so have have decided to discontinue this project page.  We hope that you will continue to follow our work on the website (www.fllvrindavan.org) or link to our facebook page to keep in touch and find out more about our 2014 new year's gift drive.

Thank you again for your generosity!

New Year Gift Festival 2012-13

Dear Friend,

FFLV New Year Gift Festival its here again. Thousands of very poor children every year on the first of January receive a gift pack from us. Last year we did 5,000 gift packs with your kind contribution. This year we hope we can do the same.

It cost US $5 for a gift pack, which includes a school bag, pencil, sharpener, toothbrush and toothpaste, a ball, chocolate, toffees and biscuit, a woolly hat for the coming winter and some hope..

It is this time of the year again when we call upon you to help us gift smiles to Vrindavan's poorest children. You know very well, we are their only hope!

During this festive period, giving is on everyone's mind, making someone happy is a treasure to share. And it is a fiver! We are not asking for the moon, just your pocket change to make a poor child happy, like he has never been before.

Send in your contribution today and please forward this message to anyone you know. We are confident that with your help we can do it again this year.

You can donate through our GlobalGiving page: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/gifts-for-street-children-girls-in-india-food-for-life/

Yours in service of Vrindavan poor children

Gift of Smile...

Our student after getting her gift on new year.
Our student after getting her gift on new year.

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your contribution towards Food for Life Vrindavan's New Year Gift Festival. The gifts were distributed amongst the poorest of the poor kids of Vrindavan. One might think that why are these gifts so special? They are special because most of the parents of these kids earn less than $1.00 per day in which it becomes very difficult for them to run the very basic family expenses. The gifts that we give contain chocolates, toffees, toothpaste, toothbrush, toys, peanuts etc which might not sound very exciting to me and you but for these kids they are a precious present that their parents cannot afford. The million dollar smile on their faces is what Food for Life Vrindavan(FFLV) and its donors cherish...

Food for Life Vrindavan continues this kind of distribution through out the year. The distribution includes books, bags, t-shirts, school shirts, uniforms, slippers, mosquito nets, shoes, socks, belts and any other necessary thing that is required for the student to be at the school. The current student strength of FFLV is touching 1500. For such massive distribution we are always looking forward to donation. You can be a great help to these poor kids by sharing this with your friends.

Thanking you

Dear Donors,

Thank you so much for your kind contributions towards the FFLV New Year Gift Festival 2012. It was a huge success this year.

Here we are to share the lovely experience that you gifted to the children and to us:

After days of packing and preparations, when the Food For Life Vrindavan team set out for the New Year gift distribution 2012 and entered the villages, thousands of cute little faces lit up seeing their gifts arrive. While some waited in anticipation to receive their gifts, many started chasing the vehicle that carried the gifts to be the first one in the row. Food for Life Vrindavan successfully carried out their 16th year of Gift Distribution, this time distributing a total of 5,000 gift packs! It is hard to put to words how we felt to see little twinkling faces burrowed deep into their gift bags, counting their precious possessions. One of our volunteers who participated in the distribution shared his experiences.

Morgan Shaver: “Delivering the New Year’s gifts to local schools was a blessing in more ways than one. Of course, the most warming blessing of the experience was the priceless and numerous amounts of smiles that the children wore proudly. Another blessing of this experience was being able to be apart of the vast amount of giving that Food for Life does constantly. The final blessing that I observed during this experience was seeing how much one organization could do. Food for Life not only has built and maintained a fantastic program but selflessly gives to other schools that aren’t as fortunate as themselves.”

We thank you again for making this possible year after year!!

Blessings and Love
