Light for Children's care and support for 50 HIVpositive children is still ongoing. The 50 HIV positive children are still being catered for by LIFOC and therefore needs support in order to boost our morale to do more.
The care and support for the children is put into three headings namely:
a) Anti-Retroviral Therapy treatment for 10 children
b)Nutritional Supplement and
a)Anti-Retroviral Therapy treatment for 10 children
The children needs the ART treatment every month to reduce the activities of the virus. The ART is giving to the children when payment is being made to the two main HIV clinics of Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Kumasi South Government Hospital, both in Kumasi. This year, we have in mind to cater for the ART therapy for 10 children when we have the support.
The Nutritional aspect of the children's health is as important as the ART and as such the stock of the nutritional supplement was enhanced when we bought boxes of this blood booster(Zincovit).Every month, each of the children was given a pack of this which contains thirty tablets to be taken once a day for thirty days.
Apart from their ART treatment and nutritional supplement, the educational needs of the children is also catered for. Most of the 50 HIV positive children are in school and Light for Children bears these costs. We therefore need support in order to cater for the educational needs of these vulnerable children. The educational needs include the payment of school fees, books and stipends for them to be able to go to school.
