Since our last update in April, Light for Children has embarked on many new projects and programs but has been focusing on the sponsorship of HIV positive children in the Ashanti region of Ghana. We would like to share with you the story of twin boys who were able to be helped because of your donation.
Light for Children first encountered twin boys, Edwin and Edward at a rehabilitation center in Kumasi. They were very malnourished, on the verge of death because their health was so fragile. Both boys were found to be HIV positive but were not on any medication. The rehabilitation center contacted Light for Children to see if we could offer any support. A volunteer went to visit the boys and saw just how bad their condition was. We then used a portion of the Global Giving donation to supply Edwin and Edward with the help that they need. The two were put on ART (Anti retroviral therapy) medication and given nutritional supplements to nurse them back to health. We are proud to say now that Edwin and Edward are two thriving and very happy boys. They have gained weight and are regularly taking the medication. At our Light for Children Monthly Socialization Meeting the boys love playing with the volunteers and running around in the grass. They have bright smiles and their caregiver is very thankful for what Light for Children has done.
We would like to thank you for your continued support but urge you that more help is needed. We have identified numerous more vulnerable, HIV positive children in the region who are in desperate need of our help. We would love to help these children but need the financial backing to do so. Light for Children strives to aid children like Edwin and Edward but without your support, the condition and health of these children will continue to decline. Every dollar contributed goes to the medication, education, nutritional supplement, or hospital visits of a vulnerable child. Where ever in the world you may be we hope you join us in the fight against HIV.
