Approximately 40% of the women that come to Fresh Start Women's Foundation for services have experienced some sort of abuse in their life. Fresh Start provides counseling, support groups, legal services and career services to help these women move on. October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and Fresh Start is looking to spread the word about the impact of DV on the women of our community.
Did you know that one in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime? Domestic violence is an epidemic affecting women in every community, regardless of age, economic status, race, religion, nationality or educational background. At our Women's Resource Center in Phoenix, Fresh Start Women's Foundation sees new cases every week. We have visits from approximately 25,000 women every year and almost 40% of the women we see have experienced some kind of abuse.
Fresh Start Women's Foundation offers counseling, support groups, career services, legal services, wardrobing services and education for women affected by domestic violence. All of these services are offered free of charge or for a nominal fee. Fresh Start works with these women on a long-term plan to turn their life around.
The more women Fresh Start can serve, the more women in Phoenix will be empowered and self-sustaining. Funding services at Fresh Start will help end the vicious cycle of domestic violence.
