Community Farming: Family Bonding Activity towards Food Security by the T'bolis

The development of the 2 hectare community farm of the 45 T'boli families in Datal Basak, Sarangani has commenced with a training on Sustainable Agriculture last June 2013. Tboli families from the parents to their children were involved in the training and implementation of the communal farm. This serves as their bonding activity towards achieving food security while also ensuring that the practices, experiences and knowledge will be passed on to the next generation of T'bolis.

The training have sprung the rice production within the community farm as well as the building of a nursery for fruit tress seedlings and wildlings for their agro-forestry development.

Soil fertility management of the community farm uses the Korean Nature Farming fermented liquid fertilizers. A vermicomposting training was also done to support further the improvement of soil fertility for better production.
