This project is home to 70 desperate and orphan children. It is a vital part of a larger program supporting and caring for over 3,500 homeless and destitute children. The centre is run in a warm family-like environment where girls and boys enjoy the security of a stable home, joining their peers at local schools and preparing for independent futures. We are their family and to sustain their daily needs and education we desperately need your support. Keep Liyavo alive and donate now!
Every month hundreds of children arrive in Kitale. They are lost, abandoned or runaway. With no responsible adult carer many get sucked into the street community where the toughest only, survive. Drugs, poor diet and abuse of all kinds, quickly erodes the child's health. Soon he will become just another statistic. Life expectancy on the street is just 16 years* CRK finds these children, often within hours of arriving, and offers them a 'safe haven'; a choice *Source 'The Daily Nation'
Fully cared for and away from the survival pressures of street life they can evaluate their situation, seek advice, receive guidance and resolve conflicts. In many cases the children choose to return home and CRK work with the families to ensure this is successful. Disease, conflict and poverty leave some children with no functional family. Liyavo offers them a new family; security, education and hope: Responsible adult care and guidance, learning life skills nurturing abilities for the future.
Once marginalized and on the road to nowhere. Children develop into caring adults with the life and academic skills to break the cycle of abject poverty and positively contribute to their society. Be voices for the new generation of destitute children, seek change and demand justice. Liyavo boasts some children in prestigious schools and universities. Liyavo graduates include Nurses, Laboratory Technicians, Matrons, Mechanics, Hairdressers, Electricians and Carpenters: Viable Futures!
