Isabel Clutches her Notebook
Isabel, one of the girls from the second round of scholarships was shy to the camera as she prepared to head of to school. She is one of the brightest students in the class, constantly impressing her peers with her high grades. She received the end of the year award for the best student in the program this year.
Constancia keeps a watchful eye
Constancia is one of the social workers who looks after the girls. Since the girls perform all their own chores at the house including cooking and cleaning, she makes sure that their rotating schedule is kept. The girls that she looks after, 20 girls from the 9th grade, commonly refer to her as "mama".
Off to school in dusty Magude
Girls from the 8th grade make the half mile trek to school everyday. The distance is cut down from where they live. Some of their houses are more than 60 miles away from the nears high school, making this one of the primary reasons why they would not start, let alone finish high school. Can you imagine you community with more than 90% of girls not finishing high school?

Physics examination in September. The two studious girls are learning to value their education through the program, which hopes to help them gain economic independence by finishing high school. Once finished they can have access to job opportunities as civil servants, rather than taking most common option from their communities: a subsistence farmer. We hope this value for education will then be passed onto their children too.
