This community health promoter (CHP) is on her daily rounds. The CHP is a member of her village’s microfinance village organization, chosen by the local community, and provided with training in essential health care. She is responsible for ensuring that 10-12 households per day have access to health services and medicines.

This community health promoter is encouraging village organization group members to talk about how to identify and prevent common diseases such as malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS. Through effective health education and practiced preventative measures, the health status in Southern Sudan will begin to rise.
