Summary

This project creates a safe, reliable and visible field office / collection point for 100 unemployed day labourers who wait on the side of the road for work.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

We work with unemployed people who gather in groups at the side of the road, waiting hopefully for anyone who can offer them a job. Historically, one of the problems associated with employing from the side of the road is that going to a site to find a worker can be a chaotic and intimidating experience. This experience often prevented the public from making use of the services.

How will this project solve this problem?

We create a temporary office at each collection point for day labourers by: (1) setting up a tent,(2) flying banners to mark the location, and (3) attaching posters on nearby street poles.

Potential Long Term Impact

The project will create a platform for 100 day labourers to interact with the general public and hopefully find work. It builds credibility with potential employers and improves the employability as we are able to market their services.

Project Message

"We unlock doors of hope for the hopeless by matching reliable and skilled people with available jobs, free of charge."
