We work with unemployed men who gather in groups at the side of the road, waiting hopefully for anyone who can offer them a job. Historically, one of the problems associated with employing men who stand on the side of the road is that going to a site to find a worker can be a chaotic and intimidating experience. This experience often prevented the public from making use of the men's services.
We create a temporary office at each collection point for day labourers by: (1) setting up a tent,(2) flying banners to mark the location, and (3) attaching posters on nearby street poles.
Total Funding Received to Date: $133
Remaining Goal to be Funded: $23,036
Total Funding Goal: $23,170
This project has provided additional documentation in a PDF file (projdoc.pdf).
The project will create a platform for 100 day labourers to interact with the general public and hopefully find work. It builds credibility with potential employers and improves the employability of men as we are able to market their services.
"We unlock doors of hope for the hopeless by matching reliable and skilled people with available jobs, free of charge."
