Faiza Jama Mohamed - Nairobi Director

Ms. Mohamed has over 20 years of experience working with international organizations. She has been Equality Now’s Nairobi Office Director since 2000. Prior to that she was an active member of the women’s movement in Somalia for many years and was instrumental in the coalition building of women’s organizations with a focus on promoting peace, gender equality and advocacy for women’s rights.

Efua Dorkenoo - Advocacy Director, FGM Program

Ms. Dorkenoo was the Founder and the Executive Director (1983-1995) of Foundation for Women’s Health Research and Development-FORWARD. Under FORWARD, she facilitated the introduction in the UK of the first legislation on FGM (1985) as well as the development of a culturally sensitive child protection framework to protect girls from FGM and saw to its integration into the UK Children Act.

Grace Uweziye - Program Officer

Ms. Uweziye is a lawyer who is responsible for reviewing proposals, conducting field monitoring and assessment visits to projects of FGM Fund partners. Previously, she worked with the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva and at the Refugee Council Organisation and the British Red Cross Refugee Unit in London.
