REPORT ON THE PROJECT SINCE THE OPEN CHALLENGE BEGUN

The organization People for Peace and Defense of Rights (PPDR UGANDA) initiated this project in order to positively respond to the problems of abandoned refugees children in Kampala.

The project has been posted in the web site of Global Giving for a period of just one month and it must raised 4,000$ USA to gain a permanent spot in the Global Giving web site.

BEFORE THE OPEN CHALLENGE

The Challenge is a campaign in which people have to contribute for different projects in the web site of Global Giving for a period of a month. Before the Open Challenge the team of PPDR contact several people and asked them to take part in this project. For a period of two weeks a total number of 23 people promised to take part in this campaign. Per now PPDR has a team 6 people who are ACTIVELY engaged in this fund raising, the rest do not respond top our emails. Some have been promising to take part in this activity but they have not yet done anything up to know. Others have not been active at all.

Source of information

PPDR Uganda has different source of information such as the web site: www.ppdr.info, face book "Ppdr Uganda" and the blog htp://refugeeseducation.blogspot.com

Main Problems

Limited contacts with different people, PPDR Uganda is still know by few people both in Uganda and outside Uganda.

Problem with the Electricity: In many times the electricity is cut off or it is too little.

Contribution:

Per now we have got a total number of 4 donors who have contributed a total amount of 145$, two among them we know each other, one we know each other from the net especially facebook and the other one we have not much information about him hut he/she said that he/she got the information about this project through Google. All of them are willing to contribute positively to this project, we thank them so much.

Sharing the link:

Our link has been shared by more than 170 people on facebook, some among these people are our friends and the others are friends to our friends who are helping this project in that we way, we thank them so much.

Email: More than 400 emails have sent to various people and we also thank those who have been involved.

Challenges:

The first challenge we have is to raise the 4,000$ so that this project can remain on after this month.

We have a challenge of some donors who have chosen to remain unknown and this makes us very difficult to inform them every time on the progress on the project. Some donors including our previous donors do not communicate to us so that we can keep them informed about the progress made by their donations.

Few people are still engaged in this fundraising campaign especially sharing this link with their friends.

Recommendations:

We call upon all people of good will to generously donate so that this project can be fully funded in the future and in short time.

We call upon people of good to volunteer and become our campaign managers for the remaining days.

We invite every one who will get this link to kindly share it with friends on facebook, email or through other social networks.

We think that the days which are remaining are a new challenge for all of us to raise the remaining money.

Thank you so much
