Satish used to skip school to work for food

Satish doesn
Satish doesn't have to skip school anymore.

Dear friend,

Thank you for your gift to feed hungry school children in India. Your gift provides a starving child living in poverty with a healthy meal. You helped to feed 200 children with a school meal.

Many children in the villages come from poor families, and their parents are unable to feed them or send them to school. When they come to school, their stomachs are empty and it makes it very hard to focus in class. Sometimes the children skip school and work in the fields to earn some money instead of attending classes. This is what Satish had to do in order to eat.

But your gift helps children like Satish and gives them an opportunity to receive healthy and satisfying school lunches.

Satish is a third grader with no mother and a father who wastes the little money that he makes on alcohol. When a teacher from an India Partners’ school went to Satish’s house to ask why he was not coming to school anymore, Satish explained that his father made him work in order to collect food as his wage.

Satish felt sad that he had to stay back and work while all his friends went to school. Since they are so poor, some parents are unable to feed or educate their children.

The teacher felt sorry for Satish and told his father that Satish could receive mid-day meals at the local school every day.

Because of the lunch served at Satish’s school—provided by your gifts—his father allowed him to return. Satish was so thankful that he could go to school and study with his friends.

Thank you for your support. You are feeding children like Satish with nutritious meals every day.

Sincerely,

Thank you for feeding hungry children

Children are getting a healthy meal because of you
Children are getting a healthy meal because of you

Thank you for feeding hungry school children in India's poorest villages. Your gift provides a starving child with a healthy meal. You are helping to feed 200 children with a school meal.

Many children in the villages come from poor families, and their parents are unable to feed them or send them to school. When they come to school, they are starving and weak. This is a challenge and makes it very hard to focus in class. Sometimes the children skip school and work in the fields to earn some money instead of attending classes.

But your gift feeds children like Mahitha with a nutritious school meal every day.

Mahitha grew up in a troubled household. Her  mother died because of cancer and her father is an alcoholic, who doesn't work to support the family. Since Mahitha wasn't getting good care, she went to live with her grandmother. Her grandmother took care of her but she was too poor to give Mahitha her most basic needs sometimes. She didn't have enough money to send her to school and she couldn't afford to always feed her.

When they found that the nearby India Partners school offers children a free lunch and an education, both Mahitha and her grandmother were overjoyed. Mahitha gets a chance to attend school every day and she also gets one healthy meal a day. You are nourishing and feeding this little girl with much needed food and knowledge.

Thank you for your support. You are feeding children like Mahitha with a hearty and nutritious meal.

Sincerely,

A healthy meal helps a child do well in school

You are feeding children like Devi
You are feeding children like Devi

Dear friend,

Thank you for your gift to feed hungry school children in India. Your gift provides a starving child living in poverty with a healthy meal. You helped to feed 200 children with a school meal.

Many children in the villages come from poor families, and their parents are unable to feed them or send them to school. When they come to school, their stomachs are empty and it makes it very hard to focus in class. Sometimes the children skip school and work in the fields to earn some money instead of attending classes.

But your gift feeds children like Devi and gives them an opportunity to receive healthy and satisfying school lunches.

Devi comes from a very poor family who has struggled a lot to make ends meet. Her father is a rickshaw puller and her mother is bed ridden so she cannot do any work. The money which her father earns as a rickshaw puller is not even enough to feed him, his wife and kids.

Thankfully, Devi is attending one of our schools, which provides her with a nutritious meal every day. She is able to focus in class and she doesn't need to miss school in order to work and provide for her family. Her family feels so happy that their child is not only receiving food but also an education. They are excited to send their daughter to school because they know she is learning and growing so much.

Thank you for your support. You are feeding children like Devi with nutritious meals every day.

A meal makes a difference

Dear friend,

Thank you for your gift to feed hungry school children in India. Your gift provides a starving child living in poverty with a healthy meal. You helped to feed 118 children with a school meal.

Many children in the villages come from poor families, and their parents are unable to feed them or send them to school. The children often work in the fields to earn some money instead of attending classes.

But your gift feeds children like Kumar and gives them an opportunity to receive a great education!

Kumar lives in a fishing village. Frequently his father is away on the sea, with a few other men they spend a few days out at sea working hard to catch what they can sell in the local market. To supplement their income his mother works in the field planting and harvesting rice. Along with his younger sister Kumar usually accompanies his mother, even though he is only six he is expected to help in some manner. Cleaning up the chaff at harvest or carrying seedlings at the time of planting, because he works he eats. There is no food for those who do not work.  His parents cannot afford to send him to school as not only are there fees but he also must eat, there is no food for those who do not work.

Recently one of the teachers from our school were visiting families in their area and spoke with his mother. When she learned that not only could Kumar get an education at the school but that they were also providing a mid-day meal she was very excited. Though she is illiterate she fully understands the value of education and wants Kumar to have an opportunity to escape the poverty that enslaves them to a life of hardship and want. Kumar has started attending and eats heartily at lunchtime. He normally comes to school without any breakfast so he joyfully fills his stomach every time at lunch.

Thank you for your support. You are feeding children like Kumar with nutritious meals every day.

From street begger to school girl

Thanks for feeding hungry children
Thanks for feeding hungry children

Thank you for your gift to feed hungry school children in India. Your gift provides a starving child living in poverty with a healhy meal. Most recently, 118 school children received a nutritious mid-day meal at school every day.

Many children in the villages come from poor families, and their parents are unable to feed them or send them to school. The children often work in the fields to earn some money instead of attending classes.

According to UNICEF, one-third of the world's malnourished children lives in India. Having no food limits a child's development and capacity to learn.

But your gift feeds children like Satyavathi and gives them an opportunity to receive a great education!

Satyavathi is in the 8th grade and she is 13 years old. Her mother died when she was just a baby, so her father remarried a woman who became her stepmother. Satyavathi’s stepmother didn’t treat her well and only cared for her own son. As a result, Satyavathi was not getting fed regularly. She was severely malnourished, and her stepmother made her beg for food on the streets. She was also forced to work in the house and wasn’t allowed to go to school.

One day, someone in her community told her that she could receive a nutritious meal every day if she went to school. Satyavathi was excited about this opportunity. Because she was able to get a free lunch at school, she was no longer forced to beg for food. Satyavathi is eating at least one meal a day and going to school.

Thank you for your support. You are feeding children like Satyavathi with nutritious meals every day.

Special Giving Tuesday opportunity! You can DOUBLE your impact for poor children in India today!
