Challenge

The 21st century demands a high-tech workforce and those who are not prepared are left behind. There is a major shortage of young people entering STEM fields today and the US needs a proficient next generation of STEM explorers to keep up with the rest of the world. Preparing students for STEM careers will provide a solid workforce for vital military, government and industry jobs, as well as future great thinkers.

Solution

The project will provide opportunities to students and their families to gain exposure to science, engineering and related careers through education and training, hands-on activities and field trips.

Long-Term Impact

The project will provide STEM training and activities to 1,200 Greater Washington DC area students and their families. We will utilize the NASA SEMAA model that has proven it can close the achievement gap and inspire a more diverse student body.

Additional Documentation

This project has provided additional documentation in a PDF file (projdoc.pdf).
