Save 50000 children from blindness

The Mobile School Screening Project team of Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital continued their efforts to find out maximum school going children with refractive error. The team during the period visited various schools especially in the small town where hardly eye care facilities are available. The effort of Mobile School Screening Project team is really appreciable for working day and night to find out refractive errors in poor children of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A part from Mobile School Screening Project Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital also carried out free eye camps is following areas to find out maximum children for refractive errort and also to find out cataract patients, so that they can be operated in Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital free of cost.
Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital also established 3 days special camp in Kalam (Swat) and its surrounding area for poor school going children and needy people. During visit to schools / camp is Kalam area and examined 566 children for refractive error and issued free glasses and medicines there and then. During the camp 76 patients were declared cataract patients and were referred to nearby hospital for operation. During visit to various schools the team screened 6968 school going children and issued spectacles to 4848 children free of cost. Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital provided free medicines worth of 15659 US dollars and glasses worth of 6565 US dollars to the patients during free eye camps and also performed 1630 cataract surgeries free of cost. Our effort in squint child patient in collaboration with Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar was very successful and all those children with squint problem referred to Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar were treated successfully.
Khyber Eye Foundation Hospital is very thankful to its donors who are contributing towards this noble cause. This hospital and our team will continue their effort in eradicating blindness for the poor people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa specially in children.
