Current progress of the project

Khyber Eye Foundation, hospital, apart from establishing free eye camps in far flung area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also visited various schools during eye camps with a view to find out maximum school going children with refractive errors. These children were given free medicines and spectacles. The aim of free eye camps was basically to find out patients with cataract problems, so that they can be referred to hospital for cataract surgery. Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital established free eye camps in following areas.

  • Mansehra
  • Haripur
  • Abbottabad
  • Nowshera
  • Peshawar and surrounding areas
  • Charsadda
  • Mardan
  • Malakand

This time maximum stressed was given towards children with refractive error. The Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital Mobile School Screening team visited various schools in far flung areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Specially in swat and screened 8775 school going children and issued spectacles to 1500 children free of cost.

Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital also provided free medicines worth of 12450 US dollars and glasses worth of 5357 US dollars to the patients during free eye camps.

Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital also celebrated world sight day on 13th October, 2011 and special Programme was arranged in one of the Government School where 415 Children were given spectacles and medicines free of cost. During our mission to eradicate blindness specially in children was very successful and protected around 115 children from blindness.

            Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital intends to visit maximum schools with a view to find out more children affected with eye diseases and taking concrete measure to eradicate blindness in children. The foundation currently looking after 200 to 250 out door patients every day and also carrying out 30 to 40 cataract surgeries per day

Current Progress of the Project

Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital continued its mission to eradicate blindness and establishment of Free Eye Camps in far flung area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. During this period Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital established 10 Free Eye camps and provided free of cost glasses and medicines. This Hospital established special Free Eye Camps in following areas

1. Swabi

2. Peshawar and surrounding areas

3. Mardan

4. Swat

5 Buner

6. Malakand

7. Haripur / Abbottabad

Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital continued its mission to eradicate blindness in school going children and visited various schools of Khyber Pakhtunkwa.

Our team carried out teachers training of various schools and also screened 9145 school going children and issued spectacles to 1985 children free of cost.

The Mobile School Screening team and team of Free Eye Camps provided Medical Aid concerning to eye diseases to 1985 children 1405 women and 1250 elderly patients. The following treatments have been met out the affected patients. Cataract Surgeries of 1250 elderly men and women.

Provision of Free spectacles to 1985 school going children and 2655 elderly men and women amounting to $11460.

provision of free medicines worth of 15000 US dollars to eradicate eye diseases.

Our mobile school screening team has been able to protect 200 children from blindness. The Foundation, currently looking after 150 to 250 out door patients every day. and also carrying out 35 to 40 cataract surgeries per day

Future Plan:

Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital in tense to visit maximum schools tp find out more children affected with eye diseases and taking concrete measures to eradicate blindness in children.

Current Progress of the Project

Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital was very successful in its mission to eredicate Blindness and establishment of Free Eye Camps. Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital this time established 15 Free Eye Camps remote area of Peshawar with a aim to help the poor people in eye related diseases. This time Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital established Free Eye Camps in following areas.

a. Bunir

b. Charsadda

c. Nowshera

d. Mardan

e. Peshawar and srounding areas

Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital continued its project of Mobile School Screeing with a aim to diagnose refractive errors in School Going Children. Our team was very successful in teacher's training of various schools and also screened 8044 school going children and issued spectacles to 2190 Children free of cost. 

The Mobile School Screening Project Team and team of Free eye Camps provided medical aid concerning to eye diseases to 2190 children, 1250 women and 1350 elderly patients. The following treatments have been met out the affected children and other patients. 

a. Cataract Operations of 1848 elderly people and women.

b. Provision of Free spetacles to 2190 School Going Children and 2002 elderly men and women amouting to $ 1700/-.

c. Provision of free medicines worth of $ 14200/- to eradicate various eye diseases.

Our Mobile Team have been able to protect 150 children from blindness. The foundation currently looking after 150 to 200 out door patients every day and also carrying out 30 to 40 cataract Operations per day.

FUTURE PLAN

Concerning our future plan the foundation intends to visit more schools in remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a aim to find out more children affected with eye diseases and taking concrete measure to eradicate blindness in children from remote areas. The foundation is also planing to established more camps in future which may not be possible due to lack of funds. However eye camps will be established keeping in view the availibilty of funds.

Project Report - Save 50000 Pakistani children

Current progress of the project: The Khyber Eye Foundation Peshawar has played a major and vital role in helping out the flood affected people in the region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly Peshawar and its surrounding areas. The foundation has been successful in establishing 22 eye camps in the following areas: • Peshawar • Nowshehra • Mardan • Charsadda.

The camps have provided medical aid concerning eye diseases to 809 children, 1365 women and 1344 elderly patients. The following treatments have been met out to the affected patients: • Cataract operations • Provision of free spectacles to 2000 number of patients • Provision of free medicines worth US $ 12,200 To eradicate various eye diseases.

Our mobile camps have been able to protect children from blindness. The foundation is currently looking after 260 numbers of outdoor patients every day and also carrying out 15 to 30 cataract operation per day.

Future plans:

Concerning our future plans the foundation intends to further establish eye camps in the far flung areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We are devising a plan to take concrete measures to eradicate blindness from this area, especially the children of KPK. We wish to widen the scope of daily treated patients and provide them with post operative care. It is further planned to establish 30 camps in the future, which may not be possible due to the lack of availability of funds. However, a limited number of camps may be established subject to the funds available.

MOBILE SCHOOL SCREENING

MOBILE SCHOOL SCREENING Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital

The Management of KEF observed that children between the ages of 11 to 18 studying in public sector schools were having refractive errors. Therefore the Hospital started an ambitious project in the name of MOBILE SCHOOL SCREENING - MSS unit. The main function of Mobile School Screening are as below  Identification of Refraction Services  Provision/Dispensing of glasses at the site.  Referrals of diagnosed or undiagnosed patients to KEF Eye Hospital.  Primary Eye Care (PEC) Services  Public Eye Healthcare Education Services

The direct target group of the MSS will be aged 11 to 18 suffering mainly from refractive errors and low vision. The MSS is working four days in a week to screen the eye sight of the students. The MSS will plan its activities according to the number of students enrolled in a particular school and will check around 200 students per day. According to medical estimates around 8 to 10% of all children tested will require spectacles, and will dispense these spectacles within next week. A detailed plan of action will be made according to different sector of enrollment.

This unit started functioning and upto-date 42,328 students screened 5127 children have been screened for refractive errors and 2944 numbers of Spectacles have also been distributed amongst the children, free of cost. This unit has visited different schools and Madrassas and successfully done 108 free eye camps. This Noble Cause has received great recognition and has widely been appreciated. In the month June, 2010, MSS unit has screened the eye sights of 5121 students to identify the 502 refractive errors and 188 dispensing glasses.
