Lake Villarrica is a large lake surrounded by the three communities of Curarrehue, Pucón and Villarrica. The lake is becoming polluted by phosphorus due to increased growth causing deforestation of the watershed, increased agriculture and grazing, storm water and domestic septic systems. The communities depend on the lake for their livelihood for drinking water, fisheries, and tourism revenues. School curriculum focused on their lake can teach these communities the benefits of its protection.
To develop the school program focusing on lake protection in the communities of Curarrehue, Pucón, and Villarrica by adopting new curriculum for grade schools.

I have never seen such overwhelming support for community involvement in my many years of coordinating watershed groups. The widespread support ensures the success of protection of their lake.
