Mission

Operating with the belief that social and economic transformation among the poor is possible only with their own initiative and leadership, Sahayog Sansthan supports a number of community-based educational and developmental activities designed to enhance the vision and capacity of the rural poor and the deprived sections of society.

Programs

Self Help Groups - alternative credit system for rural poor; Community Managed Improvement of Natural Resource for Improved Livelihood - construction of low-cost water harvesting structures, renovation of old wells, development, etc.; Drought Mitigation - effective management of natural resources to mitigate the drought crisis.

Heera Lal Sharma is the Secretary and Founder of Sahayog Sansthan. He belongs to a farming family and holds a Master's degree in Political Science. He was nominated as an Ashoka Fellow in 1985 for his work in helping the drought affected people in Udaipur district of Rajasthan make the best use of their forest and water resources. He has over 30 years experience in rural development.
