Planting fruit and forest trees provides food, flood protection and restores the environment. Reforestation helps local communities eat and prosper and helps the earth reduce impacts of climate change
Trees make a BIG difference in Haiti. For years, deforestation has worsened living conditions and destroyed the environment. Organizations in Northern Haiti want to improve livelihoods by planting trees to prevent soil erosion, provide sustenance from fruit and nutrients for the soil.
Help the Association of Bwa Bene of Veret (ABKV) plant 120,000 trees in 8 different communities by providing 3 agricultural technicians, seeds, tools and the training needed to build tree nurseries and manage sustainable reforestation.
900 families will be more self-sufficient since trees decrease damage from hurricanes. The farmers will be able to plant crops again and feed their families. The entire earth benefits from the effects of reforestation in reducing climate change.
