Summary
This program sends native English speakers to 14 countries around the world to provide English language education to more than 4,000 rural children during their summer breaks.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Our program benefits both the children in developing countries who take part in our classes and our volunteers who work as teachers for the summer. Our mission is guided by five principles: fostering creativity in children and adults, expanding horizons though access to the English language as means of communication, promoting understanding through cross-cultural exchange, spreading the spirit of volunteerism, and providing substantive and rewarding work experience for young people.
How will this project solve this problem?
By providing these children with English education, we are planting the seeds for rural development and economic empowerment. Our volunteers ensure that children have opportunities to learn, as well as active positive experiences during the summer.
Potential Long Term Impact
This project will provide over 4,000 underprivileged children with crucial English communication skills through songs, games, and role-play, as opposed to the rote memorization that is common in rural schools.
