Laptops

By a female, 46-60 years old , in Nairobi, Kenya
Map of LAPTOPS The agreement between Safaricom,Equity Bank and Kenyatta University to make laptops available to students in Kenyatta University through loans has been of great help. My son Kevin tells of times when doing research in the institution was a big hustle. Though the institution has big computer students centre, the centre is not big enough to serve the huge number of students in that institution. Through this partnership most students were able to apply for loans to equity bank and then safaricom company would draw the money from the students account and give them laptops which would paid back through the students fees in the institution. Today most students in the institution own laptops which has helped them not only in research but also in developing business ideas and accessing and applying for jobs through the internet. Lack Of Jobs In Towns

By a male, 16-21 years old, in Kisumu, Kenya
Map of LACK OF JOBS IN TOWNS Every early morning, I am used to seeing very many youths on the roadside and office, company entrance looking for jobs. its a very sad thing for somebody to move up and down looking for a job while in another office people use corrupt means to get even better paying jobs. This jobless people in the community are the ones that lead to high rate of theft which puts people's lives at high risks. I would therefore wish the government puts up other jobs for exam leavers from the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in order to reduce the rate of joblessness. Read more.

Being A Watch Man

46-60 years old , in Busia, Kenya
Map of BEING A WATCH MAN Being a watchman is one of those risky, tormenting and traumatizing job that one can do.Yes some enjoy the job but to me its a mirage. As i talk of this job i remember in my neighborhood a certain watchman by then name Mr Juma who had his own intelligence and tricks while doing this job. Mr.Juma would come early to this office he watched over while everyone was still there to witness his arrival to duty during the night. He would then stay there up to 9:30pm and he would tie his powerful torch on the branch of a tree such that it hang from the tree and whenever there was wind the torch could rotate. After doing this he would go back home and sleep until 4:00am in the morning then he would sneak back to his place of duty.this went on for a very long time until one day when things went sour.as usually he reported early to his place of work, played his trick and went back to sleep.unfortunately the alarm never woke him up and so he slept up to 7:00am.at that time his boss was already at the place and had found out his trick. Mr juma tried to sneak in with so much excuses and by good luck he was able to convince his boss with a story of robbers trying to rob the place and blah blah blah.though he was forgiven ,he was given a stuff warning never to repeat what he did.
