NEF is empowering women in Palestine and Jordan to create jobs and reduce gender gaps by providing them with training in job and leadership skills, business and organization management, and computer literacy. As a result, women are diversifying their sources of income, leading community change, and breaking the cycle of poverty to make a better life for their families.
Women face significant social, political, and economic barriers in Palestine and Jordan. Historically excluded from the workforce, they struggle to support their families. Most women lack the business and management skills required to find and keep a job. Local women's associations provide some support, but their resources are limited and professional training is scarce. With no access to training, women have little hope of creating new opportunities and escaping poverty.
NEF is empowering hundreds of women by providing the training and financing they need to make their dreams of self-employment a reality. We are working with dozens of women's associations in Jordan and Palestine to help women create new, sustainable jobs and improve their communities through entrepreneurship. By providing technical and financial assistance to the women's associations, we support them in providing services to members (including revolving savings and credit).
When women become wage-earners, it enhances their leadership role in society and allows them to provide more opportunities for their children. Women are achieving their career goals, revitalizing their communities, and becoming role models for younger girls. As our partner women's associations grow, they will continue to improve the lives and incomes of thousands more women in their collective networks-creating a sustainable structure to support women's social and economic empowerment.
