Summary

Cambodian Children's House of Peace (CCHP) is a local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered with the Royal Government of Cambodia. Our Vision is to provide growth in body, mind and spirit for vulnerable children in a community of peace. This community outreach project will provide 200 child labourers working at brick kilns in the rural area of Siem Reap province with school supplies, uniforms, transport and other things that the children need to enable them to access to education.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Today, extreme poverty among families in rural area of Siem Reap province forces many families to remove their children from school at very young ages to work as daily laborers at brick kilns and in the fields. There is a high number of primary school dropouts as many families are unable to afford school supplies, uniforms, and other things that the children need for their education. Besides, they need a bicycle once they have to continue their secondary school that is far away from their home.

How will this project solve this problem?

We think education will bring about change and this project will provide these child laborers with school supplies and uniforms, transport, health care and other things that the children need to attend public schools to enable them to have a better education for their lives. We will work cooperatively and closely with teachers and school support committee to eliminate this barrier to education by reintegrating them into public schools and providing them with things they need for their education.

Potential Long Term Impact

Education is the only way to break the cycle of poverty. It is the key element in helping these marginalized children developing to their full potentials. Children completing secondary level of education will have better life options and earning potentials. By giving to this project, you will change their lives through an education. While they grow up they will begin their own families and have a better chance of being able to provide for their families and will see the value of education.
