The Sisterhood Empowerment Project helps girls recognize their greatness and options in life by providing sisterhood mentoring, a positive peer group, exposure to career and work options, life skills, culture, and community awareness.
Historically at-risk and traditionally underserved, girls of African descent are disproportionately affected by poverty, teen pregnancy, school dropout, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases (STD's). Due to demand, Sisterhood Agenda and partner organizations implement A Journey Toward Womanhood on-site at different locations and provide much-needed training and educational resources such as curriculum guides, student manuals, program protocols, books, knowledge cards, and journals.
Using a hands-on, multi-media approach rooted in the African "rites of passage" tradition, Sisterhood Agenda uses a modern approach to instilling knowledge, cultural roots and community awareness by using mentoring, peer influence and collabation. Positive Media teaches girls to be and love themselves!
This Empowerment Project prepares girls to meet the challenges of their generation by giving them tools, awareness and knowledge to avoid negative outcomes for self-sufficiency, educational attainment, life enhancement and ultimate success.
"A Journey Toward Womanhood is a wonderful program that changed my daughter's life."
"The detail that you have given to helping young girls is unbelievable. It is an absolute blessing." "
