Train support & establish 500 marginal rural women as sustainable entrepreneurs thereby improving their fast eroding socio-economic status and making them role models for other women
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The status of women in villages is fast eroding by migration of spouses to towns.
Remote villages of UP & Assam in India will be the focus. Drishtee will scout, train and support (through microcredit) disadvantaged women & make them part of its network of over 4000 to provide the community needed products & services, particularly health.
Besides themselves the entire community would benefit by access to health and other needed products. These women would also become role models for other
How will this project solve this problem?
Drishtee starts with community sensitization & invokes women, with a burning desire to come up. Then builds capacity of these, simultaneously building backend operations like supply chain for product /service delivery or doctors for health.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project would serve over 1,000,000 rural people Women entrepreneurs creates a huge social impact, in rural India. They create income for their families, provide needed services to their villages and serve as role models
