HIV positive widows have been economically affected by HIV/AIDS. To boost their incomes, they can be supported with 2 she goats each. These multiply fast, are easy to manage and are on demand by buyers.
Uganda is one of the countries worst hit by HIV/AIDS with poverty as a major effect. Low incomes are observed as a factor contributing to low access to basic necessities like food, clothing and medical care. In their advanced stages of HIV infection, most people are unable to continue with their economic activities because they are weak and are often bedridden. They may sell off some of their productive assets like land to meet their medical expenses and other household requirements.
Goats are easy to manage and reproduce fast. 2 local goats will be given to each of the 300 widow headed households. The goats will be vaccinated and beneficiaries followed up.The goats will multiply and will be sold off to meet basic needs
The project will enhance the productive capacity, incomes and livelihood of HIV positive widows. 60% of all families shall be able to meet their basic household needs and scholastic materials for their children hence reduce school drop outs.
