Young people making a living by making a difference. umake100 connects young people with great business ideas to mentoring, hands-on learning experiences and seed funding for social businesses.
umake100 is a School Ventures initiative, to leverage the innovation of young people. We’re taking social business into our partner schools in Kenya, Zimbabwe, South Africa and the US. We’re working with mentors, linking students to seed funding and social business “incubation” centers so the students can build local economies and experience hands-on learning. They’re transforming their own lives and communities today, and Oyakae is harnessing their potential to succeed as adults tomorrow.
The project will serve 10,000 students in Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe and the US by having one innovation coordinator in each country facilitate building social business "incubator" centers and mobilizing youth with great business ideas.
Equipping 10,000 students with social business skills and real experience is just the beginning. These students will invigorate local economies while also spreading anti-poverty solutions. Social business in schools will redefine education.
