We have completed the solar power installations on schools, community centers and health posts in 8 villages. Two pico-hydro projects are nearing completion. The project team has been working with the community members to form committees that locally manage the projects--both technically and financially.
The new addition to the program are small wind turbines. The turbines, developed in Peru, generate 100watts and are designed to take advantage of low wind areas. The turbines will bring sustainable energy to families that currently have no electricity.
We are also working on another micro-hydro project, that will use a local stream to produce clean energy for homes, community buildings and small businesses.
