Enriching Lives of Elders
Summary
To make the lives of our elders more enhanced, Cedar Village provides programs and entertainment for our residents, whether it is an off campus trip or on site amusement and informative classes.
On Wednesday, April 19th, Cedar Village presented the Ariel Quartet for our residents’ enjoyment. These talented musicians provided music which we wished would never end.
On Tuesday, June 6th, Lisa Moad and her crew from Seven Oaks Farm in Hamilton, brought two of their 18 therapy miniature horses to our facility to the delight of our residents and staff. The therapy horses provide positive mental, physical and emotional benefits to all who experience them.
As part of an ongoing informative series, Cedar Village held it’s First “Third Thursday: Fraud and Safety Series. A few other local organizations were invited to attend. The feature speaker was FBI Special Agent Ben Eagan. His topic was “Don’t Fall For It! How To Spot Scams and Fraud!” Special Agent Eagan talked about some of the most common scams that often target people 60 years old and better.
Challenge
In order to make aging an enriching experience, Cedar Village, must be able to provide a variety of inspiring events. We are located just outside Cincinnati, Ohio, and house over 280 elders in our independent and assisted living apartments or in the long term care units of our Skilled Nursing Center. Through special programming opportunities made possible through contributions received from the community, we are able to provide programs inside our four walls as well as bringing our residents to cultural activities throughout the city.
Solution
Since resident engagement is crucial to our mission, we endeavor to provide, classes, concerts, lectures, plays and outings (including special transportation) as well as any programs presented with partners within the community.
Long Term Impact
Enhanced quality of life is crucial to us. Our residents look forward to living engaged, stimulated, and therefore healthier lives in many ways.
