Ek Pahila's objective is to help save a school building and a bathroom for 300 students in Nepal from being washed away by the monsoon rains. These buildings are already under threat due to the heavy erosion that has been occurring every year. We will also paint the school buildings so that classrooms are waterproof. This will create a better learning environment for the students. Moreover, we also plan to establish a proper workplace for the principal and teachers at Devisthan Primary School.
Heavy erosion caused by the monsoon rains have caused an immediate threat to the infrastructure at Devisthan Primary School. Without proper and timely action there are high chances that the school's building and bathroom could be washed by the heavy rains this year. Painting the infrastructure will make the classrooms waterproof and provide students a better and cleaner learning environment. A proper principal/teacher's office is also needed so that there is a professional working atmosphere.
Any contribution to this project will 1. Help Ek Pahila build a retention/supporting cement and stone wall, which will provide additional support to the school infrastructure and prevent it from being washed away 2. Waterproof and paint classrooms, which will improve the learning environment 3. Help furnish the principal/teacher's room with proper wooden furniture and other equipments so that the teachers and the headmaster have a proper workplace.
Devisthan Primary School is the only school in the village of Devitar. This village is inhabited by Tamangs who are indigenous to the Himalayan regions. They are very a marginalized community in Nepal and have not been able to improve their socio-economic status due to the lack of proper education. This project targets one such village with a hope to provide better educational facilities to the Tamang population in the village of Devitar.
