Christmas is the time for giving although sadly for many neglected children gifts are not something which they will receive. For the children at the Presidents Village home we wanted to give them a practical treat to help them enjoy this time of year.
GVI Seychelles Country Director explains:
‘The donation has had a massive impact on the children at the home many of whom did not have their own pair of shoes. For the older kids the opportunity to accompany the GVI staff and volunteers to the shops in town and actually chose their own shoes has provided them with a real sense of ownership.
By wrapping the clothes and shoes and presenting them as presents at the Christmas BBQ it brought a real sense of Christmas to the children’s home and the delight on their faces as they opened their gifts made for an extremely emotional experience.
On Christmas morning the kids will wake up find the two brand new BMX bicycles, which will provide them with no end of entertainment and an opportunity to get outside the walls of the children’s home.
These simple gifts of shoes and clothes may not seem like much but they really have made the world of difference to the children who received them and GVI Seychelles would like to thank everyone who donated and made this possible.’
