Volunteers and rural teachers improve teaching methods and curriculum that children’s foster well-rounded development and appreciation for their communities.
We envision education that benefits the lives of all students, regardless of whether they do well on exams and have good grades or drop out after middle school and enter the job market. Volunteers and rural teachers create new educational models for middle school students to foster widely applicable skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and the ability to work cooperatively. These problem-solving skills help them cope with challenges in their own life and carry out positive solutions.
Through short- and long-term volunteers with international backgrounds in education and teaching, we bring much-needed skilled human resources to rural areas to help local teachers improve teaching and curriculum.
The fate of rural children is critical to China’s future. Providing quality education means the difference between millions growing up in a cycle of poverty and exploitation and a hopeful generation of capable citizens who help solve these problems.
