To publish 1 million books - a collection of short stories from the annual short story competition run for the last 10 years.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
We need funds annually to publish the best short stories from the ERA/Anglo Platinum Short Story Competition to supply much-needed books to support family literacy in South Africa.
How will this project solve this problem?
Advertising & promoting short story competition widely & broadly; Short listing best stories; Selecting top 20 stories to go to judges; Liaison with writers for permission to print their stories free of charge for free circulation to South Africans
Potential Long Term Impact
To bring books into SA homes; Slowly encouraging the habit of reading and the promotion of local writing; To support other literacy and reading promotion efforts in the country.
