Anwar Khan with preschool kids
Dear friends,
We are off to a great start in 2013 and as always have some good stuff to share with you about how the kids at our preschools that you have lend your generous support to, are doing.
In December of 2012, the little preschoolers had great fun meeting several visitors from the United States. Anwar Khan, the President of OBAT visits the camps every year in December. This year, he was accompanied by his daughter, Arishaa Khan who volunteers a lot of her time for OBAT, Katie Basbagill who is a human rights photojournalist and Zachary Rockwood who is a documentary film maker. All three of these wonderful individuals were there to meet these sweet souls and to capture their stories through film, photography and ink.
At present, we have a total of 437 students in 20 preschools with 209 boys and 228 girls. At the end of December, final examinations were held for preschool students; ninety-seven percent of these students cleared the exam. They were thus able to gain admission into an elementary school due to being prepared by the Preschools.
You have already helped us raise $5,225 so far. The project is gradually progressing towards its goal of raising the remaining amount of $8,525 and is enjoying a great ranking of 1,474 out of the 10,440 projects listed at GlobalGiving. Thank you for helping us get closer to our goal.
