We are excited that spring is finally here and are equally excited to share with you news about some remarkable visitors to our Preschool projects.
Maude Bourassa visited our preschool on April 26th while visiting the camps to organize a workshop on internally displaced people, development aid and NGO intervention. Our preschool project manager, Mr. Sohail Khan presented at this workshop as well. Ms. Bourassa has a background in International Development and currently works as a Councillor for Students at Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Canada.
The second visitor was none other than a representative from Global Giving! Ms. Neeharika Tummala from Washington, DC visited the Prechools and some camps. According to our staff, she enjoyed her time and noted that of all the NGO’s she had visited, OBAT was the only one which had its own curriculum. The teachers and students were at ease with her as Ms. Tummala could speak the same language. She expressed an interest in providing English Language training to the students and teachers after returning to the US.
Among other updates, a two day training was organized by Mr. Sohail Khan and Ms. Shamim Nighat for the Khulna Preschool teachers. OBAT aims to keep its teachers updated with the latest developments in curriculum and standards of education followed in the country.
We just have another $2,420 to raise for the preschool project on Global Giving. Do help us reach our goal by contributing to it.

OBAT's preschools in Chittagong recently held their annual sports day in January 2014. Several little kids participated in this program whose purpose is to provide a well rounded experience to the children that consists of not only mental but physical growth as well. The children played several sports and were rewarded at the end by a prize giving ceremony.
You have been instrumental in making these opportunities available for the preschoolers. Without the resources that OBAT makes available for them through you, these children would probably be spending their days aimlessly roaming the alleys of the slums in which they live.
We are very grateful to you for helping us raise $5,665 so far for our preschools. Team up with your friends and family to raise the remaining $2,420. We know that you can do it!

You have changed so many little children's lives by contributing to OBAT's Preschool projects. Here is the story of just one of those hundreds of chidren.
Jibon is a precious five year old boy who studies at OBAT's Khulna Preschool. His father, Mr. Lukman drives a rickshaw for a living. His daily income is about $2. Chanda Begum, his mother, works as a maid in several homes and earns $26 a month.
Jibon is deeply interested in studying. According to him, his dad did not get a chance to study and for that reason, he had to become a rickshaw driver. Jibon thinks that being a rickshaw driver is a very difficult job. He wants to be educated so he can find a good job when he grows up.
Many boys like Jibon are pursuing such dreams. OBAT’s mission is to try to make these dreams come true by empowering them through education.
Thank you for helping Jibon and so many other children pursue their dreams. By going to preschools, these children are prepared to take and pass the tests that will give them admission into elementary schools.
So far, you have helped us raise $5,380. Help us raise the remaining $8,370 and reach our goal.
You are setting up the course for a lifetime of learning for these children and for this, we are truly grateful.
With sincere appreciation for your support,
Hope you will like these new images we have received from OBAT's Preschools. These pictures capture the true spirit of the little children, all of whom are anxious to learn, yet have such few opportunities to make their wishes come to life. By supporting our Preschools, you are giving these innocent children the means with which to make their lives better and brighter.
Currently, we have been able to raise $5,350 with your help. Only $8,400 remains until we reach our goal. With your support, we hope to reach that goal soon.
Thank you for creating the path to hope for these young children.
With immense gratitude for your support,
A very happy summer to you! At this glorious time of the year, we have some of our own sunshine from OBAT’s preschools to send over to you.
Recently, we added a new center in the Ferozeshah camp in Rangpur, which makes the total number of preschools, twenty-one. These centers collectively house 232 delightful boys and 247 charming girls.
Since the last time you heard from us, we had two more training workshops conducted for our teachers. These were held in Chittagong and Rangpur. The workshops taught the teachers how to improve upon their current methods of teaching English, Bangla, Art and Math to the young children. The workshops are interactive in nature and feedback from the teachers is an integral part of revising the curriculum or making adjustments where needed.
In the accompanying pictures, you will also see some of the text books used by the school. These have been designed by the Education Coordinator of OBAT, Sohail Akhter Khan and his wife, Shamim Akhter who serves OBAT in a voluntary capacity. The couple has extensive experience working with Concern Worldwide prior to joining OBAT. Concern Worldwide is an international nonprofit organization.
We cannot thank you enough for generously supporting OBAT’s preschools through your contributions via GlobalGiving. In this year, we were able to get donations from some wonderful new donors and I would like to extend my special thanks to them. Only $3,140 remains to be raised for this project. We hope to reach that goal together with your support.
